Safety, monotony, anonymity: Life as an entry-level database administrator in the suburbs had it all. For Drew Turing, whose primary talent is faking his way through life, going unnoticed is the attraction. But when a dead coworker pulls him into the mysterious Centipede Test, he learns of a world of supernatural beings who live side by side with humans—and that they know all about him.  

Now Drew must race to conquer a series of cryptic puzzles to beat the test, while outwitting the ancient forces that would love to see him fail. The fate of two worlds rests on his pudgy shoulders. Will he learn to trust his own ability and save himself—and keep both worlds from collapsing? Or will he be destroyed and erased from everyone’s memory, like dozens of test entrants before him?
